Alina Habba resigns following appeals court rules against her.

The former personal attorney for Donald Trump has left her position as the US Attorney for New Jersey. This follows a court battle that questioned her eligibility to serve.

Official Departure

The head of the Justice Department, the Attorney General, confirmed the prosecutor's departure on Monday. Bondi stated that the court's "flawed" ruling made it "untenable" for Habba to perform her duties.

"Do not interpret following the order as giving up," she wrote. "My fight will now reach across the nation."

Court Ruling

Her resignation follows closely on a judicial panel determined that she had been unlawfully serving as US attorney. This judgment is likely to affect numerous legal proceedings in New Jersey.

The judicial panel said that a temporary posting that did not receive the advice and consent of the Senate violated the federal law governing appointments.

Ongoing Legal Battle

The Attorney General added that Habba will remain at the justice department as a top consultant. Habba plans to seek further review of the court's action, in the hope of achieving a overturned decision.

In a statement, Bondi contended that judges "should not be able to override the executive's selection of attorneys entrusted with executing the executive branch's core responsibility of prosecuting crime."

Record and Legacy

She praised Habba's record and said that during her run, the city of Newark saw a one-fifth decrease in offenses. Additionally that the Camden experienced its first summer in 50 years free from homicides.

Background and Previous Role

Habba, 41, first joined Donald Trump's lawyers in recent years. She later acted for Trump in his hush-money trial in New York last year, leading to his guilty verdict on dozens of charges of falsifying business records.

Earlier, Habba took on the federal prosecutor position, Donald Trump had stated he was selecting her as his senior adviser in a potential future term, calling her as deeply loyal and a "tireless advocate for justice".
