The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”

Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
